God's Timing

I stand amazed at God's Timing over and over again, and today is a perfect example. I have referred to my friend Linda in this blog. Her picture is on my fridge, so I can see, remember, and get over the hurdle of losing her, and I was feeling pretty proud of myself last night as I looked at it. There were heart twinges, but I was ok, knowing she was in God's Arms.
Today, I talked to my son on break, and he said, "Mom, I need to read something to you, do you have a minute?" He began reading, and it was such an uplifting letter, written to him when he was in Afghanistan, I believe. At the end of the letter it mentions Jeremiah 29:11, one of my favorite all time verses, and then he said, "Mom, it is signed 'LINDA'!" I lost it. It says: "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." She wrote that out for him when he was just going through some rough waters. My friend is now experiencing perfection.
God's Timing is always PERFECT, and in our imperfect world, we tend to forget that. He always answers, it may be "Yes, No, or WAIT" but He always does, and IN HIS TIME!
I trust that we will wait and watch for His timing in our own lives.

God gave you a delightful friend, and now He is bringing you some sweet moments of good memories to help you in your grieving process, Rozan. We are so thankful that He is a good God! Thank You, Lord.

God's timing is always perfect. Joel says that there will be times when we have to wait for God's answers. I know we've all experienced that seemingly eternal wait for what we've requested. Joel asks, "How are we going to wait? What will be our physical, emotional, and spiritual demeanor?" He then explains that we don't have to struggle, but we need to allow God to perform what He promised. Oh, to be able to say with David in Psalms 31:14-15, "God, I'm trusting You. My times are in Your hands."

I came across a John Milton (1608-1674) poem today that fits with the theme of this chapter:

ON TIME

"Fly envious Time, till thou run out thy race, Call on the lazy leaden-stepping hours, Whose speed is but the heavy plummet's pace; And glut thy self with what thy womb devours, Which is no more than what is false and vain, And merely mortal dross; So little our loss, So little our gain. For when as each thing bad thou hast entombed, And last of all, thy greedy self consumed, Then long Eternity shall greet our bliss with an individual kiss; And Joy shall overtake us as a flood, When every good thing that is sincerely good and perfectly divine, with Truth, and Peace, and Love shall ever shine About the supreme Throne of him, t'whose happy-making sight alone, When once our heav'nly guided soul shall climb, Then all this earthly grossness quit, Attired with stars, we shall for ever sit, Triumphing over Death, and Chance, and thee, O Time."

John Milton paints a picture of time as an enemy, but we can relax and rest in God's perfect timing. David says in the 23rd Psalm that God is our shepherd who leads us beside the still waters and lets us rest in green pastures. How awesome is that!

My vacation is almost over. I had a wonderful time with Frank these past three weeks. He travels so much that I am really happy and grateful I got to spend some quality time with him. Last weekend we went to Sedona, and it was so spectacular. I couldn't imagine any place on earth that beautiful. It just took my breath away! I'd been there before but it was only a day trip. This time we spend a long weekend there and mountain biked around one of the rock formations for six miles! It was very exciting. Now with spring and Easter coming, it's time to go back home to Lawrence and enjoy the green of our town. I love the desert, but it will be good to be in Kansas for the return of the mild weather. It's all in God's perfect timing. Joel says at the end of the chapter, "God will give you all the grace you need. If you will learn to trust His timing, He's promised that at the right time, He will bring your dreams to pass and answer your prayers. The answer will come, and it will be right on time." What an awesome God we have! He will provide everything we need as we pursue our dreams as long as we let Him do it in His own timing.
