I must be thinking of song titles today. Remember that song by K.d. Lang about constant craving. I often think of how much we live in a material world. That's the title of another song by Madonna. Even our study on the blog of YOUR BEST LIFE NOW seems to point toward receiving bigger and better things. Often we try to fill ourselves with possessions, money, success, power, status, or even people to feel more complete. Matthew 6:26 says, "Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them." Our God shall supply all our needs. "Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin; and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these." (Matthew 6:28-29) If we feel a big hole in our heart, we can not fill it with possessions, job promotions, social status, or all the money in the world. We can only feel that hole with God. My best life now is one of perfect peace centered on God. I achieve peace through forgiveness of myself and others and loving kindness toward all God's creatures and even our planet. My joy comes from a grateful heart for all of God's abundant blessings. He supplies all my needs.

Let me just share this from DAILY WORD with you. It goes well with this week's topic:

If ever I experience seeming lack of anything, I need only open my mind to God's presence, and prospering ideas start flowing to me. A quiet time of communion with God helps me maintain the flow of ideas.

Patty and Frank, I really appreciate your comments. Song titles were definitely on my mind yesterday, also. My son in the military is having a rough go of it this month, with training, getting ready to ship out again, etc, and on Sunday, they played songs that seemed directed right at me, and at him. One was "Blessed by Your Name" with the chorus played over and over, "Blessed be the Name of the Lord, Blessed be Your name, Blessed be the name of the Lord, Blessed be Your glorious name. You give and take away, You give and take away, But my heart will choose to say, 'Blessed be Your Name!'" and so on... it just touched my heart, and I was able to share that with Grant when he called on Monday. In Blackaby's devotional the night before I had read about how we must put our hopes and dreams in the Hands of God, and leave them there, He has more knowledge of what we need that we do. It talked about how we must praise God in the problems as well as the prosperity. How we have to FOCUS on God, not take our eyes off Him, and His course for us, and dip beneath the waves. How we must trust as Paul did, when in jail. We must keep our eyes on Him, and Bless His Name, our hearts praising Him, no matter what our circumstances.
Rozan, my heart goes with you as you contemplate your son's journey on the ship. I will be praying for his safety. I know that God will be with him and protect him wherever he goes and supply all his needs. Give Grant our best. The song titles in your mind are a little more spiritual than mine. Max Lucado says, "We worship God because we need to. But our need runs a turtle-paced distant second to the thoroughbred reason for worship. The chief reason for applauding God? He deserves it." The constant craving we feel in our hearts is our need to worship God. He deserves our praise, and we have a need to praise Him....so it's a win-win situation.
"The Lord is my strength and my might, and He has become my salvation; this is my God, and I will praise Him." (Exodus 15:2) Frank and I both call on God's protection and strength a lot, especially when we travel. We also need His strength when we do our routine chores of life. We love to travel together. Sometimes, though, Frank gets weary from his business travel, but we both realize that our most important journey is our spiritual one. I had a nice talk with my oldest granddaughter this morning and was pleased that she shares my same ideas of the importance of our journey with God. Moving always forward with our Lord satisfies my spiritual needs and helps me understand myself, as well as others, better. I stay ever vigilant and aware of God in every aspect of my life. He fills my constant craving. "Where you go, I will go; where you lodge, I will lodge; your people will be my people, and your God my God." (Ruth 1:16)
